The School Counseling — Specialist in Education program at 女仆AV prepares you to have a positive impact on the lives of students as a professional school counselor in a variety of school settingsDesigned for certified educators with a master’s degree in education who want to become a certified school counselor, this CACREP-accredited program equips you with the tools to build students’ academic success, career and college readiness skills, and mental health and wellness needs. 

You’ll build advanced skills in counseling theory, techniques and procedures while deepening your understanding of academic, career and social-emotional development. Through focused coursework, you’ll study comprehensive school counseling programs, ethical practice, and college and career readinessequipping you to address the evolving needs of students at all levels. 

As you move throughout the program, you’ll engage in supervised field experiences and collaborate with expert faculty who blend evidence-based research with professional practice. Gain clinical experience by completing a practicum before diving into an internship experience, where you’ll work directly with students in a K-12 school setting. This hands-on approach ensures you graduate, ready to move into leadership roles, collaborate with all stakeholders, advocate for schoolwide mental health strategies, and support student success and well-being. 

When you graduate from the School Counseling — Specialist in Education program, you’ll be prepared to pursue certification as a professional school counselor who elevates student support systems and advocates for each child

Course Overview

Career and College Readiness in Schools PK-12

Gain a developmental overview of child and adolescent career growth and exploration for children and adolescents. You'll also learn applicable interventions for career education and counseling, which can be used to assist students in identifying their strengths while mapping postsecondary pathways.

This course serves as comprehensive orientation to the roles and functions of counselors in K-12 schools. You will learn specific skills that optimize student outcomes through the design, coordination and execution of developmental comprehensive school counseling services.

This course explores counseling theories, processes, and techniques that can be implemented for children and adolescents.

  • Gain a solid background in school counseling based on best practices, research, and lessons based on the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) Student Standards.
