Parking and Shuttles

Where to Park

Fans who drive to campus on game days can park in a variety of garages and lots. While some garages and lots – in the Gold Zone – require permits, fans can park for free in most areas of campus.

Important note about tailgating: Tailgating is not permitted in any parking garage. In parking lots, tailgating shall be confined to the area immediately behind your vehicle and shall not impede traffic flow or parking spaces for other vehicles.

Gold Zone – Reserved Parking (by Game Day Permit Only)

Preferred parking lots and garages are located in the northeast sector of campus and are closest to the Bounce House. Gold Zone lots require a valid football game-day parking permit, or an ADA permit for fans with disabilities parking in designated spaces. Permits must be properly displayed at all times from the rearview mirror. All permits are limited to one parking space.

Preferred routing to Gold Zone parking (from the south) is via Libra Drive/Gemini Boulevard East and (from the north or west) via McCulloch Road/North Orion Boulevard.

Garage H

Fans without permits who wish to park closer to the stadium can park in Garage H for $20. Payments can be made with cash or credit card. Donations support scholarships for UCF students.

Garage H, located near the FAIRWINDSAlumni Center, also accommodates vehicles for authorized students displaying Student Government-provided parking passes and credentialed staff with permits for that garage.

Free Parking

Free parking is available for fans on a first-come, first-served basis in most other lots and garages on campus.

Exceptions include all residential lots and the Libra Garage on Libra Drive, which are reserved at all times for students living on campus.

Parking lot B4, located at the intersection of Central Florida Boulevard and Gemini Boulevard South, is reserved for official university business.

Parking is only authorized in designated parking lots and garages. Patrons who illegally park on or along any campus roadways or in other non-designated parking areas are subject to towing and fines.

The individual who was issued the permit must be with the vehicle. Garage C is located at the intersection of North Orion Boulevard and Scorpius Street.

Those shuttles will run from four hours prior to kickoff until two hours after kickoff. Throughout the game and postgame, shuttles will be available, picking up from Gate 14, to return patrons with disabilities to Garage C.

Everything You Need to Know About Riding UCF’s Shuttles /news/everything-need-know-ucf-shuttles/ Fri, 19 Aug 2016 14:34:28 +0000 /news/?p=73686 Wouldn’t it be great if a driver could pick you up and take you to class, your apartment or even the grocery store, free of charge? You’d never have to worry about parking on campus again.

Good news. The ŮAV offers a fleet of free shuttles that serves students, faculty and staff, on and off campus. And if you’re too busy hunting Pokémon to wait at a stop, you can even track your shuttle via GPS on a smartphone app so you don’t miss the bus.

Many students never bring their cars to campus. (Bonus, you won’t have to buy a parking pass.)

    The Details

On Campus: If you want to go from one spot on campus to another, ride the Black and Gold lines. They constantly circle campus on Gemini Boulevard, with the Black Route running clockwise and the Gold Route running counter-clockwise. They run from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. during the fall and spring semesters, stopping at the busiest buildings and facilities. They hit every stop every 15 minutes or so.

Off Campus: If you live in one of the 20 off-campus apartment complexes closest to UCF, you can catch a shuttle to and from home. There are 14 shuttle routes between campus, apartment complexes and Central Florida Research Park. Those shuttles operate every 15 minutes between 6:30 a.m. and 10 p.m.

Other Campuses: There are shuttles that run between the main campus and the Rosen College of Hospitality Management, and others that connect students at the Health Sciences Campus at Lake Nona.

Groceries: On Tuesdays, the Grocery Shuttle runs to Publix at the University Palms Shopping Center just north of campus and several stops on campus: Marketplace, Academic Village (Nike), Towers (front of CFE Arena), and Lake Claire. Shuttles run every 45 minutes from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., with the final pickup from Publix at 8 p.m.

Park and Ride: If you have trouble finding a parking space, leave your car in Lot E4, the Park and Ride lot at the softball stadium. A shuttle will pick you up there and drop you off at a stop by the Health and Public Affairs buildings. The Park and Ride shuttlestypically run continuously from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and pick up every 15 minutes. During the early part of the fall semester, the shuttles will runfrom 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday. Due to the temporary closure of Parking Garage C, additional park-and-ride services will temporarily be available at Bright House Networks Stadium from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. starting Monday. Shuttles will take students to and from the Health and Public Affairs buildings.

New GPS Service Makes Riding Free Shuttles Easier /news/new-gps-service-makes-riding-free-shuttles-easier/ Sun, 27 Nov 2011 16:51:49 +0000 /news/?p=30510 students boarding ucf shuttleAbout 10,000 students who ride the UCF shuttles daily no longer have to guess when a shuttle will arrive at their front door.

UCF Parking and Transportation Services has launched a new mobile website that features a GPS service for each of the shuttle routes, making the service more convenient for students. Shuttle riders now can track the location of the buses and estimate the time of arrival at a particular stop.

Data are updated every 10 seconds. The site includes several helpful features, including the ability to save favorite stops and help and feedback pages.

“GPS service enhances our commitment to better serve our students while promoting sustainability efforts, safety and technology” said Andy Rampersad, assistant director of operations for Parking and Transportation Services.

Last year, more than 2 million students used the 11 off-campus shuttle routes that offer complimentary transportation to and from the campus and 17 student apartment complexes. The shuttles also provide students with transportation to and from the Rosen College of Hospitality Management and Lake Nona.

Need a Ride? Zimride Saves You Gas, Money /news/need-a-ride-zimride-saves-you-gas-money/ Tue, 29 Jun 2010 14:31:40 +0000 /news/?p=14075 Log on, and grab a ride. The ŮAV today launched a new carpooling service that harnesses popular online social networking to help students and staff and faculty members save gas and money.

Zimride uses Facebook and Google Maps to help UCF commuters seek out or offer rides. ŮAV is the first university in Florida and the largest in the nation to utilize the service.

“ŮAV is such a technologically and socially oriented campus,” said Taylor Lochrane, Student Government Association vice president. “Zimride is one way that we can make campus commuting work better for everyone.

“This partnership will also mark a significant step in improving campus sustainability practices and reducing emissions,” he added.

SGA and UCF Parking and Transportation Services are offering the service for free to the entire UCF community. About 200 people had already signed up by the official June 29 launch date.

Here’s how it works: Users can log in at with their university e-mail address, create profiles and view others’ profiles. They can share details of their commutes, including music preferences and driving styles. Drivers have the option of charging riders and posting the prices on their profiles.

Users can limit how much information ride seekers see. Security settings allow only the university community to sign up on the UCF-Zimride Web site.

Zimride directly links with users’ Facebook pages, Twitter accounts and other social media networks, enabling them to quickly contact riders or drivers. Users are able to rate other drivers and find out how much money they’re saving in gas and how much they’re reducing their own carbon footprint by carpooling.

The university also can calculate how much its community is reducing emissions through carpooling. The initiative is part of a larger effort to help UCF become climate neutral by 2050.

Zimride is the largest online social rideshare community in North America with more than 350,000 users. Other schools using the service include Stanford University, UCLA and the University of Michigan.

Organizers hope at least 10 percent of UCF’s population will sign up for Zimride within the first year.

While adding the new carpooling service, UCF continues to operate a free shuttle system that connects the campus with 17 nearby apartment complexes, Central Florida Research Park, Rosen College of Hospitality Management and the College of Medicine in Lake Nona.

With 34 buses, the shuttle system has served more than 2 million riders since it started in 2002.

“We think Zimride will work well here,” said Kris Singh, director of UCF Parking and Transportation Services. “Along with our successful shuttles, carpooling makes getting to and from campus more convenient, helps our students save money and has a sizeable impact on campus traffic and parking.”

UCF Physics Professor and Student Head to Astronaut Boot Camp /news/ucf-physics-professor-and-student-head-to-astronaut-boot-camp/ Mon, 11 Jan 2010 15:53:11 +0000 /news/?p=9321 ŮAV Physics Associate Professor Joshua Colwell and one of his graduate students is headed for astronaut boot camp.

Colwell, a scientist who specializes inthe early formation of the solar system and graduate student Akbar Whizin, of Santa Cruz, Calif., will be training this week at the National AeroSpace Training and Astronaut Research Center in Southampton, Pa.

About 13 scientists from well-known universities including Massachusetts Institute of Technology are expected to attend the two-day course, which includes classroom instruction, altitude chamber training and centrifuge training to ready participants for the gravitational stresses of launch and re-entry.

It is the first training course for scientists who want to get shot into space and perform experiments. The course was developed by the research center and is organized by Alan Stern and Dan Durda of the Southwest Research Institute (SRI). Stern is the former head of all science missions at NASA headquarters.

Scientists from SRI, Boston University, the Denver Museum of National Sciences, the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, MIT, and the University Space Research Association will be joining UCF’s Colwell and Whizin for the course.

Late last year Colwell was selected to fly an experiment aboard a new spaceship being developed by Blue Origin, a private space company set up by Amazon.com found Jeff Bezos. The company is among several seeking commercial flight opportunities as NASA prepares to retire the space shuttle and develops its replacement.
