Richard I. Zraick, Ph.D.,聽is the newly appointed聽professor and chair in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders in the College of Health and Public Affairs.
Zraick聽is a nationally recognized expert in the assessment and treatment of voice disorders.聽His textbook, The Voice and Voice Therapy (now in its 9th edition), is the leading textbook in its area. He is recognized nationally as a leader in developing innovative clinical skills training methods, particularly those involving patient simulation. He has a particular interest in helping clinicians meet the needs of patients with limited health literacy.
Zraick聽is also a Fellow of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, one of the highest honors bestowed by the organization.
Prior to聽joining the faculty earlier this month, Zraick was a professor of speech-language pathology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, where he held appointments in the Departments of Audiology and Speech Pathology, Otolaryngology 鈥 Head and Neck Surgery, and Geriatrics.聽During his 17 years at UAMS, he was the recipient of multiple faculty excellence awards for teaching and research.
